State Flag and Constitution Day

Secular holiday : On 18 May, 1992 Turkmenistan adopted its constitution, and proclaimed itself a secular and democratic state, with a president for life.
This day also commemorates the establishment of the flag of Turkmenistan following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The flag represents freedom for Turkmens and marks the commencement of the nation’s independence.

1948 Earthquake Remembrance

Secular holiday : Tribute to the victims of the 1948 earthquake of 1948. UNESCO recognized the earthquake in Ashgabat to be one of the most destructive natural disasters of the 20th century. According to official reports thirty thousand people died as a result of the tragedy.
