Culture : Le Feuillu, also formerly written Folliu , Folhiu or Foeillu , is a festival linked to the ancient tradition of May quests spread throughout Europe. It can also be compared to the Fête du Fou (the crazy being derived from fagus, beech) as well as to that of Maïentzets or that of the May tree.
This festival was originally a pagan-type peasant rite, probably of Celtic origin, the aim of which is to celebrate the return of spring. In the 16th century, Calvin had it banned in the Geneva communes. [Wikipedia]
